Job description
The STEM & Live Programming Manager leads the Museum & Theatre's education efforts to provide engaging, welcoming, and safe programming, events, and outreach rooted in environmental science and STEM. This position is dedicated to advancing equitable access to STEM Education programming both within the Museum & Theatre and through offsite community outreach, ensuring inclusive engagement with diverse communities. This position oversees the Aquarium space and Live Exhibits team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, engaging programming that advances the Museum's educational and visitor experience goals., Manage team of STEM and Live Exhibits personnel, interns, and volunteers
- Manage STEM and Live team work assignments, schedules, time-off requests
- Conduct regular reviews and check-ins with STEM and Live team members
- Hire and train new STEM and Live staff
- Manage Live team communications regularly with other teams
- Manage Aquarium upgrade projects with Live Exhibits team
Organization-wide Program Development
- Manage the development of new STEM Education programming and outreach rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Lead STEM Education programing and outreach as needed for the public and for groups
- Collaboratively co-manage organization-wide calendar of programming
- Participate and sometimes lead collaborative program evaluation
- Manage STEM and Live afterschool programs (primarily for ages 5-8)
- Support interdepartmental program development for large programming events for our visitors including but not limited to New Year's Eve and Halloween
- Coordinate STEM presenters for programs in Maddy's Theatre
- Manage Visiting Scientist programs for STEM and Live activities
- Advise and consult on new exhibit development as needed
STEM Education space, materials, and budget management
- Manage upkeep and maintenance of Aquarium and life safety systems (with leadership from Live Coordinator)
- Manage the upkeep and organization of STEM programming storage
- Manage the STEM Education budget in collaboration with with the Director of Education
- Manage STEM and Live Exhibits material improvements, maintenance and repairs and serving as liaison to contractors and consultants for said materials;
- Participate in grant creation for STEM Education focused grants.
Support forward-facing work
- Ensure all visitors feel welcome and represent CMTM to all visitors in a lively, play-based environment
- Serve as Manager on Duty or Supporting Manager on Duty at least two days per week
- Work directly with school and community partners to enhance organizational relationships and bolster programming
- Perform other duties as identified by the supervisor, including weekly floor checks and covering front desk check-in as needed.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Team leadership?, * Leadership experience
- At least 3 years of management experience or an equivalent combination of relevant leadership, supervisory, or project oversight experience
- A least 3 years of creating programs for families and children 0-14
- Aquarium experience a plus
- STEM educational experience a plus
- Comfortable speaking and engaging with large groups of people of various ages
- ESOL Level 4+
- Comfortable with e-mail and Microsoft Office suite and Google Calendar
- Ability to work one weekend day as part of weekly work schedule
- Day travel is regularly required for this position. CMTM reimburses all approved work travel at the federal rate. A candidate must:
- possess a valid State of Maine driver's license
- have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
- have access to a vehicle and be specifically named on the vehicle's auto insurance policy

- Health savings account, 40 hours per week (full-time) in person, Sun-Thurs, 8:30-4:30, $53,601.60 / year plus $12,000 annual benefit pay, paid biweekly.
