Job description
The Final Assurance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and de-bugging machine issues to ensure equipment meets quality and performance standards prior to release. This role conducts final inspections, identifies defects or malfunctions, and performs necessary adjustments or repairs to ensure machines operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications and customer requirements. The technician collaborates with engineering, assembly, and quality teams to resolve issues, support continuous improvement efforts, and uphold product reliability and customer satisfaction. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform mechanical and electrical inspections.
- Test and make adjustments on both standard and nonstandard machines following general procedures and methods to ensure proper functionality of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and/or debug machinery during dry cycles and with product runs.
- Download PLC programs. Edit and/or modify programs as required.
- Make adjustments as required on any parts or components, electrical or mechanical by working with Machine Shop, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Engineering and/or sales.
- Prepare machines to meet sales order specification, customer change orders and engineering change orders. Is responsible for being in compliance with all written requests.
- Identify and document all changes utilizing Final Assurance testing procedures.
- Follow all FA department procedures and testing protocols (MAP board, AQL, budget, etc.).
- Submit all documentation to Sales, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and Production Managers.
- Perform and/or participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT's).
- Control the flow of documentation between departments.
- Inside the company, interface with Sales, Engineering, Production, Technical Services, Materials Management, Customer Service, Crating/Shipping and Spare Parts Operation.
- Outside company, interface with customers and distributors.
- When required will act as an external technician. Duties will include new installation of various styles of packaging machinery; Service, repair, and general maintenance on equipment in field; perform extensive mechanical and electrical modifications; perform PLC edits and modifications and submit detailed reports of jobs given.
- Travel up to 50% of the time may be required.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Production troubleshooting?, * Experience with Mechanical and Electrical machine assembly.
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and de-bugging mechanical machine problems.
- Knowledge and experience with robotics a plus.
- Strong electrical knowledge including electrical components.
- Must be able to read blueprints, layout drawings and electrical schematics.
- Must have a good understanding of AC/DC drive motors.
- Knowledge and experience of PLCs required. Experience with Allen-Bradley,PLC, servo, and HMI's downloading and/or editing desired.
- Experience with robotics and industrial robot application beneficial, While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
