Job description
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Java Developer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Leeds., We are seeking Senior Java Developer who will be responsible for developing, operating, and enhancing software solutions that align with user requirements. This role requires a skilled Java engineer with strong expertise in AWS cloud technologies. The individual should also be experienced across a modern engineering toolchain including AngularJS, Jenkins, Karate, Gherkin, Cypress, CloudFormation, Groovy, and deployment across core AWS services such as ECS, S3, Lambda, SQS, and Step Functions., * Develop high-quality, secure, and maintainable code following a test-driven development (TDD) approach
- Build scalable, reusable components and promote code reusability across projects
- Work closely with cross-functional development teams to deliver solutions
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve service issues while ensuring infrastructure stability
- Adhere to contemporary engineering best practices and standards
- Leverage prototyping techniques and tools to validate ideas and solutions
- Architect and implement software modules and system components
- Enable and support seamless integration across multiple systems and services
- Design with a strong emphasis on user experience and usability
- Monitor, maintain, and continuously enhance live production services
- Provide Level 3 (L3) support, including out-of-hours and on-call responsibilities on a 24/7 basis
Requirements
Do you have experience in Usability?, * 5+ years' experience using Java (Spring Boot) alongside AWS services including ECR, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions, and Apigee
- Hands-on capability with AngularJS, Jenkins, Karate, Node.js (v10), Groovy, Bash scripting, and TypeScript
- Working knowledge of testing and BDD frameworks such as Gherkin, Cypress, and Jest
- Familiarity with development and deployment tooling including GitLab, Jenkins, CloudFormation, Maven, Docker, Fortify on Demand, and SonarQube
- Proven understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Ability to implement and maintain secure coding standards and practices
- Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines
- Awareness of user-centred design principles to guide development decisions
- AWS DevOps Engineer certification (or higher) is mandatory
- ITIL certification is considered advantageous
- Experience operating within Agile delivery environments
