Job description
The Wellesley Free Library is seeking a new member for its Information Services Department. Fearless, flexible and fun are three words we use to describe the Info Services team and they ring true. The technology-savvy and customer service oriented full-time (35 hours/week) Librarian will provide the highest quality library service. Reporting to the Information Services Supervisor, their duties will include reference and reader advisory services, public service assistance, collection development, providing technology education and support to adult patrons including coordinating Jackie's Room programs, and developing/implementing general library programs, displays, and social media content.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Research assistance for reference services?, Do you have a Master's degree in library science?, The successful candidate will have technology instruction experience; strong, positive communication and interpersonal skills; the ability and willingness to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing environment; strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills; ability to consistently work calmly, diplomatically and accurately, even in high pressure situations; ability to adapt quickly and easily to new procedures and practices in a continually evolving environment and be conversant with various library, communication, and social media technologies. Work hours will include weekdays, some evenings until 9:00pm, and some weekends. The starting salary is $32.21 per hour. Requires: MLS; one to three years of reference experience; knowledge of collection development; demonstrated knowledge of effective public service techniques; excellent oral and written communication skills; exemplary customer service skills; excellent computer skills, including familiarity with computer coding concepts, database searching and software specific to libraries.
