Job description

Forestar is currently looking for a Sr. Application Developer - FG. The right candidate designs, develops, and maintains enterprise-level applications that drive business operations and customer engagement. This role leads the technical implementation of complex projects, ensures high-quality code standards, and provides guidance to junior developers., * Design, code, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions using modern programming languages, frameworks, and development methodologies

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and system designs; ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards and best practices
  • Review and optimize application performance, scalability, and maintainability; enforce coding standards and secure coding practices
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, data integration services, and middleware to connect enterprise systems and external platforms
  • Design and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, and queries to ensure data integrity, availability, and optimal performance
  • Serve as a technical lead on projects; provide accurate estimates, manage development timelines, and coordinate with project managers and business stakeholders
  • Oversee unit, integration, and user acceptance testing; ensure smooth deployment through CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior and mid-level developers; foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain system stability and uptime
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to improve application performance, security, and user experience
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with corporate data security standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, technical assessments, and proof-of-concept initiatives to support IT strategy and innovation
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight

Requirements

Do you have experience in Software engineering?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in application development, including enterprise-level projects
  • Strong computer skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new programs/systems quickly is essential
  • Advanced proficiency in enterprise application development, programming languages, web services, and database technologies
  • Ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and deliver efficient, scalable solutions
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines
  • Capable of mentoring junior developers and influencing technical direction across projects
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via Forestar applications
  • Ability to sit for the majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
  • The noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience with object-oriented programming, web frameworks, and relational database design

  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and CI/CD tools
  • Experience integrating applications with APIs, cloud services, and third-party platforms
