Job description
- Provide technical guidance and programming expertise for complex software development initiatives.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using C/C++, preferably in a POS or Unix/Linux-based environment.
- Work with POSIX message queues, multithreaded applications, and system-level programming components.
- Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts and Perl scripts to support application functionality, automation, and production processes.
- Collaborate with business users, development managers, QA teams, and operations teams to gather, analyze, and define software release requirements.
- Prepare detailed technical design specifications for new software features, enhancements, and system modifications.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in both new and existing code.
- Support daily, weekly, and monthly production processes, ensuring stability and timely resolution of production issues.
- Assist support teams and project personnel in diagnosing and resolving moderately complex application and programming issues.
- Work with clients, users, and management teams to validate programming requirements and resolve functional or technical concerns.
- Develop unit test plans and participate in testing activities to verify the logic and performance of new or modified programs.
- Conduct peer code reviews and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Support Agile Scrum development processes, including sprint planning, development, testing, defect resolution, and release activities.
- Coordinate with QA and operations teams to ensure smooth deployment and rollout of new software releases.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues within aggressive timelines and high-pressure production environments.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting project deadlines and maintaining high-quality deliverables.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing as a collaborative team member.
Requirements
Do you have experience in UNIX?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of overall experience in Information Technology.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on programming experience in C/C++, preferably in POS systems or similar transaction-processing environments.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including system-level programming concepts.
- Basic understanding of SQL queries; hands-on SQL experience is a plus.
- Experience working with Agile Scrum development methodologies.
- Ability to quickly learn, understand, and apply new technical concepts, tools, and business processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues within aggressive timelines.
- Ability to work effectively with business users, development teams, QA teams, operations teams, and other technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to validate requirements with users and management.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction in high-pressure production and project environments.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proven ability to collaborate across functional and technical teams.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload effectively, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
Pay: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour
