Job description
Amentum is seeking a hands-on Network & IT Support Technician on Andros Island to manage our physical network infrastructure and provide essential connectivity support to our users. You will be responsible for the "boots-on-the-ground" technical work, including installing network hardware, maintaining cabling, and ensuring all IT assets are accurately tracked., Network Installation & Connectivity
- Deploy and configure Wi-Fi Access Points (WAPs) to ensure optimal signal coverage throughout the facility.
- Install and mount network equipment, including routers, switches, and patch panels in server racks. o Connect workstations, printers, and other peripherals to the local network (LAN).
- Physical Infrastructure & Cabling o Run, pull, and terminate copper (Cat5e/Cat6) and low-voltage cabling.
- Troubleshoot physical layer issues, such as damaged jacks, faulty patches, or cable interference. o Organize and label cabling within server closets to meet industry standards.
- Testing & Troubleshooting o Perform basic network testing using diagnostic tools (e.g., cable testers, ping, tracert) to verify connectivity.
- Identify and resolve roadblocks in LAN infrastructure that prevent users from accessing network resources.
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain a detailed physical inventory of all IT assets, including serial numbers, locations, and status.
- Document network layouts and cable paths to assist with future upgrades or repairs. Required Skills & Qualifications
Requirements
Do you have experience in Telecommunications network device configuration?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with hand tools and power drills for mounting equipment and running conduit.
- Networking Knowledge: Familiarity with TCP/IP, Wi-Fi standards, and basic router/switch configuration.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces (crawl spaces/ceilings), and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in cable termination (color-coding) and accuracy in maintaining inventory records.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates Degree in IT or related domain
- 2 years IT experience as a Technician
Preferred Qualifications:
CompTIA A+ or Network+
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
