Job description

Medix Specialty Vehicles is seeking an experienced IT Specialist (Systems & Network Administrator) to support the stability, security, and continuous improvement of our information technology infrastructure across multiple business locations. Reporting to the Senior IT Manager and working as a member of the IT Shared Services team, this role is responsible for administering systems, maintaining network performance, supporting end users, and ensuring reliable technology operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional customer service skills and enjoys solving complex technical challenges while supporting a diverse user community. Most activities are performed on-site, with regular interaction across departments and facilities., Systems Administration

  • Install, configure, maintain, and document servers, storage systems, and business applications.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability of critical infrastructure.
  • Maintain and support backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Deploy, support, troubleshoot, and upgrade software applications.
  • Create and maintain incident logs and system documentation.

Network & Telecommunications Administration

  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and telecommunications systems.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Support network security initiatives and safeguard company data and systems.
  • Assist with telecommunications systems administration and support.

Technical Support

  • Provide timely and professional Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support to internal users.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and application issues.
  • Support end-user technology including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and collaboration tools.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining high responsiveness to business needs.

IT Service Delivery & Compliance

  • Support the implementation and delivery of IT services and technology projects.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate IT standards, policies, and security requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Assist with technology planning, upgrades, and infrastructure modernization efforts.

Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Support

  • Support cybersecurity tools, monitoring systems, and security best practices.
  • Assist with vulnerability management, system patching, and access control administration.
  • Maintain and support virtualized environments, storage solutions, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Contribute to the ongoing security and integrity of business systems and data.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Windows Server administration?, Do you have a Associate's degree?, * Associate degree, college diploma, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Systems and Network Administrator.
  • Experience providing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions and SAN/NAS storage environments.
  • Experience supporting network infrastructure and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft, Fortinet, VMware, or similar technical certifications.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Fortinet and Cisco networking technologies.
  • Experience with VMware or other virtualized environments.
  • Experience managing technology projects.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems such as Panasonic or 3CX.
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and solutions.
  • PMI certification or project management experience.

  • Primarily on-site within a manufacturing environment.
  • Regular travel between Medix facilities in the Elkhart area.
  • Occasional lifting and installation of IT equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours to support system maintenance, upgrades, or emergency issues.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
