Software Engineering Manager II, AlloyDB Query Processing

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally., * Triage, debug, and resolve complex and escalated query processing issues. Drive performance benchmarking and query execution optimization.

• Build, manage, and mentor a team of software engineers. Set the standard for engineering excellence by performing rigorous code reviews and enforcing best practices for efficiency, accuracy, and testability.
• Partner with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps. Contribute to and oversee architectural documentation, adapting technical strategies based on product updates and user feedback.
• Write critical-path code for high-performance database internals and the AlloyDB query engine.
• Lead system design, driving the architectural direction for large-scale distributed systems and transactional consistency.

Experience owning outcomes and decision making, solving ambiguous problems and influencing stakeholders; deep expertise in domain., * Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.

• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience designing and developing relational databases, database internals, query processing and query optimization., * Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg or Apache Spark.
• Understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and database internals.
