Job description
The Lead SDET will be responsible for defining and driving the overall test automation strategy, framework architecture, and AI-assisted quality engineering practices. This role will lead automation modernization initiatives, including migration from Selenium to Playwright and adoption of AI-assisted development using GitHub Copilot., The Lead SDET will be responsible for defining and driving the overall test automation strategy, framework architecture, and AI-assisted quality engineering practices. This role will lead automation modernization initiatives, including migration from Selenium to Playwright and adoption of AI-assisted development using GitHub Copilot.
. Define and implement enterprise-grade test automation architecture
. Lead migration of existing Selenium-based frameworks to Playwright (TypeScript)
. Design scalable, reusable automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing
. Leverage GitHub Copilot for: New test script development Refactoring and modernization of legacy test assets
. Establish best practices for coding standards, test design, and framework governance
. Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines
. Define test reporting standards and quality metrics
. Perform advanced log analysis using tools such as Splunk and AWS CloudWatch / Log Insights
. Collaborate with Dev, DevOps, and Architecture teams for root cause analysis and defect prevention
. Mentor junior SDETs and enforce quality engineering best practices
Requirements
8+ years of relevant experience
. Strong experience in Playwright with TypeScript
. Hands-on expertise in Selenium (legacy frameworks and migration)
. Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools
. Deep understanding of test automation architecture and framework design
. Experience with test reporting and log analysis tools (Splunk, AWS Log Insights)
. Strong programming skills (TypeScript/JavaScript, Java or Python)
. Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines
Desired Skillset:
*Experience in AWS-based application testingExposure to performance testing and monitoring toolsExperience in AI/LLM-assisted testing approaches
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field., + Amazon Web Services Cloud

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $95,800.00 - $154,300.00.
