Job description

VolkerWessels UK is seeking a Systems Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of business-critical applications across the organisation. This role plays a key part in delivering secure, scalable, and high-quality software solutions that underpin operational performance.

You'll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to new application development, system enhancements, and cloud-based integrations. You will also collaborate closely with project teams, stakeholders, and support functions to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Please note that this is a permanent, full time role, based onsite in Hoddesdon.

About our role

  • Develop, maintain, and support applications, integrations, and software solutions.
  • Enhance existing systems and ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity.
  • Work with Azure technologies including Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Key Vault, and API Management.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and support teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Adhere to development standards, security controls, and governance requirements.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience with Azure cloud technologies, including Logic Apps and Azure Functions.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and web services.
  • Knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience supporting applications in a live environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to work.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer-focused with a strong service mindset.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
  • Able to manage competing priorities effectively.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Exposure to Power Platform or Dataverse.
