Job description

THE ROLEThe IT Communications and Network Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of network and communications hardware across the organisation. This role involves oversight of site network connectivity, internal/external stakeholder management, compliance, risk and cyber-security assurance and project strategic support. Reporting to the Head of Digital Systems and Compliance, this is a key role for this rapidly growing business. RESPONSIBILITIESManage day-to-day operation and performance of network and communications hardware org-wideOversee maintenance, changes and outages with minimal disruptionMaintain accurate hardware/network asset records and documentationManage connectivity across multi-site operations, including WAN, internet, failover and resilienceCoordinate provisioning/decommissioning of site links with connectivity providersLiaise with Operations on OT/network interfaces (OT remains Operations-owned)Act as principal IT contact for connectivity providers, contractors and service providersManage third-party contracts and ensure delivery against agreed standardsEnsure compliance with data protection laws, IT policies and risk proceduresIdentify IT/security risks, lead incident investigations, support auditsOversee access controls, vulnerability assessments, patch management and security auditsSupport cyber incident response and business continuity planningManage cyber security requirements in procurement of new systemsContribute to network/infrastructure projects, business cases and budgets

Requirements

Essential Skills & Qualifications:Degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experienceStrong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and routing protocolsExperience with firewalls, VPNs and network security technologiesKnowledge of cloud networking platforms (Azure, AWS)Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesStrong communication and stakeholder management skills Person Specification:Substantial experience in network and communications management within infrastructure, utilities, energy or similar multi-site environmentsStrong technical knowledge of network infrastructure, connectivity and IT security principlesAbility to analyse information and translate findings into practical solutionsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, working across operational, engineering and corporate teamsProven track record managing competing priorities, delivering projects and driving continuous improvementExperience managing third-party suppliers and service providersStrong commitment to security, regulatory compliance, data quality and service deliveryAbility to support organisational growth and site network expansion
