Job description
Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their MDM Data Engineer position! This is a 6 months contract-to-hire and will be remote in Charlotte, NC. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C or subcontracting arrangements will be considered.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design and deploy scalable, cloud-native data architectures across AWS, including data lakes, warehouses, and real-time streaming pipelines that support enterprise-wide analytics and operations
- Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT workflows using AWS Glue, Lambda, and Python to orchestrate data movement from ingestion through modeling and delivery
- Develop and optimize APIs that enable seamless data access for business intelligence platforms, analytics tools, and operational systems across the organization
- Lead integration efforts with third-party APIs and external data sources to expand the organization's data ecosystem and support new business capabilities
- Establish and enforce architectural best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards in partnership with DevOps teams
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to design reusable, scalable data models that meet cross-functional business needs
- Implement data governance frameworks, security protocols, and compliance standards to ensure data quality, privacy, and regulatory adherence
- Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues and pipeline failures, applying root cause analysis to improve system reliability and data accuracy
- Mentor team members on AWS innovations, modern data engineering practices, and emerging technologies including AI-assisted development tools
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, architecture diagrams, and data lineage maps for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related technical roles with proven ability to design scalable data solutions
- 3+ years of hands-on Python programming experience building production-grade data pipelines and applications
- Strong proficiency with AWS data services including Lambda, Glue, S3, DynamoDB, Athena, Redshift, and Snowflake
- Solid experience designing and implementing APIs and integrating with API-driven workflows for data access and distribution
- Deep understanding of OLTP systems, operational data stores, and dimensional modeling techniques for analytics environments
- Proven expertise in serverless architecture patterns, performance optimization, and AWS best practices for secure, cost-effective deployments
- Strong SQL skills with ability to write complex, performant queries across diverse data stores and optimize query execution
- Experience working in agile development environments with CI/CD workflows and collaborative team structures
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
