Job description
BMS Engineering & Technical Ownership
-
Serve as a subject matter expert for BMS architecture, design principles, and system performance across data center environments.

Perform detailed reviews of BMS designs to ensure compliance with internal standards, industry best practices, and operational requirements.

Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of BMS engineering standards, including:

Points lists
-
Control sequences
-
Graphics standards
-
Trending, alarming, and data quality requirements
-
Provide deep technical analysis to support system optimization, reliability improvement, and operational failure investigations.

Perform engineering evaluations and studies to support both project and operational needs, including trending analysis, root cause investigations, and specialized analyses such as TES (Thermal Energy Storage) system performance.

Act as a technical interface with BMS vendors and system integrators to communicate standards, resolve complex issues, and drive continuous improvement.
Commissioning & Operational Support (Technical Focus)

Provide expert-level technical support during BMS commissioning activities when escalated, assisting with troubleshooting, functional verification, and issue resolution.

Support operational teams by analyzing BMS data, trends, and system behavior to diagnose issues and recommend corrective actions.

Review and provide guidance on BMS-related RFIs, submittals, and technical inquiries as needed.

Participate in post-incident and failure reviews to identify systemic improvements to BMS design, configuration, or standards.
Technical Documentation & Standards Development

Develop and maintain clear, accurate, and technically rigorous documentation aligned with company policies and procedures.

Author and update technical documents including:

Engineering standards and design guidelines
-
Control narratives and system descriptions
-
Commissioning requirements
-
Operational procedures and playbooks
-
As-built documentation expectations

Ensure documentation is consistent, auditable, and usable by Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations teams.

Translate complex technical concepts into well-structured written guidance for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Platform Delivery Engagement (Advisory & Escalation Role)

Act as a technical advisor and escalation resource for Platform Delivery teams, including Construction, Design, Procurement, and Commissioning.
-
Engage with Platform Delivery on an as-needed basis, providing guidance when technical challenges, design deviations, or system performance concerns arise.
-
Participate in design reviews, issue resolution discussions, and Lessons Learned sessions when escalated or when specialized BMS expertise is required.
-
Provide technical input on closeout documentation expectations and BMS deliverable quality, without direct ownership of daily project execution or reporting.

Support evaluation of Commissioning (Cx) and Quality Control (QCx) approaches related to BMS when requested., This role is ideal for a senior BMS professional who wants to contribute to technical standards, influence system quality, and act as a trusted escalation point, without being embedded in daily project delivery or people management.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Technical writing within technology?, * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of experience working with Building Management Systems in data center, industrial, or mission-critical environments.

Strong expertise in BMS system design, controls sequences, points lists, graphics, and trending strategies.

Demonstrated experience supporting commissioning and operational troubleshooting in complex facilities.

Strong technical writing skills, with a proven ability to produce engineering standards, procedures, and technical documentation.

Ability to operate independently as a senior technical authority without direct managerial responsibility.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence decisions through technical credibility.
