Job description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Associate Gameplay Engineer to help build engaging and memorable gameplay experiences for our players. In this role, you will collaborate closely with designers, artists, and fellow engineers to implement and refine gameplay systems that bring our worlds to life. You'll contribute to the development of new features and mechanics, ensuring they are fun, polished, and performant.
This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on-site days. While hybrid is the standard arrangement, you're also welcome to work on-site full-time if you prefer. Our primary studio for this role is in Albany, NY.
Responsibilities :

Design, implement, improve, and maintain various gameplay systems

Act as a collaborative ambassador of engineering to the rest of the team

Work closely with game designers, programmers, and artists to ensure a great player experience
Requirements
-
2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on C++ or equivalent academic/work experience.

Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for game development.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
Bonus Points:

Experience working in cross-functional teams with diverse perspectives.

Familiarity with the Diablo franchise or other Blizzard titles.

Experience developing RPGs, ARPGs, or MMORPGs.

Hands-on experience with gameplay systems such as quests, narrative tools, UI, AI/pathfinding, combat abilities, or scripting.

Experience creating and supporting development tools.

Knowledge of C# and/or scripting languages used in game engines .

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $30.05 - $55.59 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
