Job description
The Analytics Product Engineering team at The Fidelis Partnership (TFP) builds and manages a bespoke analytical platform that powers our partnership-driven business model. We combine actuarial expertise with advanced technology to deliver innovative, scalable solutions.
The Senior Web Developer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of innovative in-house web applications in support of analytics teams at The Fidelis Partnership. The role is concerned with the enhancement of Fidelis' bespoke analytical software platform and capabilities, in particular its market-leading pricing, exposure management, event response and point-of-underwriting tools.
They will work directly with Actuarial, Underwriting and technical teams, and must therefore be able to communicate effectively with both technical experts and non-technical business users, with a focus on responsive prioritization, user experience, development and execution of robust designs, and the timely delivery of high quality solutions.
The role requires proactivity, accountability, and creativity, with continuous demonstration of well-developed technical skills and innovation; this must be coupled with interest and expertise in the technical state of the art within and beyond the industry, for the continued evolution of Fidelis' analytics tools., * Development of Fidelis' analytics web applications via managed projects and a prioritized backlog.
- Designing and developing full stack solutions to insurance analytics problems, including tools and reports, with an emphasis on frontend web development but including API services and data also.
- Liaising with actuarial and risk teams to thoroughly understand user requirements, demonstrating a continual focus on long-term effectiveness, simplicity of solutions, and appropriate controls.
- Diagnosing faults by means of user reports and logging; identifying and recommending solutions; implementation, testing, and delivery of software changes.
- Collaboration with IT team to ensure web development tooling is adequate and maintained.
- Documentation as necessary to mitigate business risks including key person dependencies.
- Identifying and making recommendations for process improvement.

Requirements
Do you have experience in UX?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * University Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Contemporary web development certification a plus
- At least 8 years applied web development experience, ideally Microsoft technology such as Blazor, Razor pages or MVC; willingness to learn and apply Blazor in depth
- At least 10 years full stack development with Microsoft C# .Net, including ASP.NET core APIs
- At least 2 years of experience with commercial datasets and contemporary data management technologies; MS SQL Server and Azure data technologies preferred
- At least 3 years of experience building pricing/rating-related tooling in the insurance domain, e.g. Quote To Bind systems
- Highly skilled in developing functional, intuitive, and appealing UX/UI
- Applied experience of Azure DevOps and Azure components a plus
- Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical concepts; applied understanding of actuarial domain (e.g. pricing, catastrophe modelling) a plus
- Ability to work in a fast paced and flexible development environment
- Experience coordinating the efforts of a small squad of engineers in a product team
- Willing to work occasional overtime during busy periods, including weekends and public holidays
