Job description

This is a field based role , working independently and as a team across multiple sites with responsibility for your own workload and performance.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Door Entry/Access Control Engineer to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems, intercoms, CCTV, and related security infrastructure. The successful candidate will work on diverse projects, ensuring the seamless operation of security systems across various sites. A strong foundation in electrical and telecommunication systems, along with mechanical knowledge, is essential for this position. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission door entry and access control systems in accordance with project specifications and schematics
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of security infrastructure
  • Complete accurate service reports and documentation
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system design documents to ensure accurate installation and repairs
  • Perform electrical wiring and cabling tasks adhering to safety standards
  • Test system functionality using specialised diagnostic tools and software
  • Document system configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities accurately
  • Provide technical support for system upgrades and enhancements
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service on-site
  • Participate in an on-call rota

Requirements

  • Proven experience in electrical installation, telecommunication systems or related fields
  • Strong knowledge of computer networking principles relevant to access control systems
  • Mechanical knowledge for installing hardware components using hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read technical drawings and electrical schematics accurately
  • Good understanding of telecommunication infrastructure relevant to access control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting
  • Relevant certifications or training in electrical or telecommunication disciplines are advantageous
