Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team supporting the Department of War (DoW) portfolio. The successful candidate will provide Tier III engineering and operational support for critical secure network infrastructure. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex and secure network solutions that facilitate information sharing between the DoW and its mission partners. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with a wide range of networking and security technologies and a proven track record of working in secure, mission-critical environments., * Design, implement, and maintain network solutions, topologies, and services to ensure the security, reliability, and efficiency of the network environments.
- Provide Tier III operational support by troubleshooting and resolving complex network incidents escalated from Tier II.
- Manage and execute Requests for Work (RFWs) from mission partners, actively troubleshooting issues and implementing tailored network solutions.
- Configure and manage firewalls (Palo Alto) as well as routers and switches (Juniper, Cisco) to optimize network performance and security.
- Perform root cause analysis of network issues and propose design enhancements to improve system uptime and reduce configuration drift.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network architecture diagrams, implementation plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).
- Manage and support a lab environment that mirrors production for testing, validation, and tech refresh activities prior to deployment.
- Lead and support the deployment and implementation of new network hardware, software, and configurations.
- Ensure all network components and configurations comply with DoW security standards, including STIGs and IAVAs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows?, * 8+ years of experience managing complex, on-premises enterprise networks.
- Expertise in designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network hardware from vendors including Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto Networks.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and experience configuring security solutions such as firewalls and web proxies.
- Proficiency with network analysis and troubleshooting tools for tasks like packet capture analysis.
- Experience in routed and switched LAN environments supporting diverse operating systems (Windows, Linux/Red Hat).
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active Top Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with DoW or other federal government network environments.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware.
- Experience with network monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk and DXNetops.
- Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the Accreditation & Authorization (A&A) process.
