Job description

PAI3 is building a decentralized AI infrastructure network powered by real hardware. Our global Power Nodes deliver secure, private, and compliant AI infrastructure for organizations that require trusted, high-performance compute. We enable professionals, enterprises, and public-sector partners to run AI workloads at the edge - without sacrificing data control, privacy, or reliability.

Website: https://pai3.ai

Offices: Cary, NC | Boca Raton, FL

THE ROLE

The AI Engineer at PAI3 is not a traditional developer who writes code in isolation. You are a solution builder who thinks like a user, designs like an architect, and collaborates like a teammate. You will work at the intersection of business requirements, AI tooling, and data infrastructure to deliver healthcare solutions that are modular, scalable, and genuinely useful.

You will use Claude for requirements and technical specifications, and Cursor for code generation. The lines between analyst and engineer are intentionally blurred at PAI3 - we need you to be comfortable on both sides., After submitting your resume, you will receive an automatic message with a link to a short screening assessment (25-30 minutes). Candidates who complete the assessment are prioritized for review.

Please complete the assessment within 48 hours to keep your application active.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Build AI-powered solutions for healthcare clients using PAI3's infrastructure platform

  • Translate client requirements into technical specifications using Claude

  • Generate and review code using Cursor based on Claude-produced specs

  • Design modular, scalable data pipelines and storage architectures for healthcare data

  • Integrate AI models and APIs into client-facing healthcare workflows

  • Collaborate with Client Solution Analysts to ensure solutions match client needs

  • Participate in solution design, architecture reviews, and implementation planning

  • Ensure all solutions meet security, compliance, and performance requirements

THE FIVE ENGINEERING LANES WE EVALUATE

  1. Business & User Thinking - You think like a user before writing a single line of code. You ask: how many clicks? Will it be self-explanatory? Why would a user prefer this screen?

  2. Modularity & Clean Architecture - You never build one big piece. You apply functional, technical, and domain decomposition. Rules engines instead of hardcoded logic. Style sheets instead of hardcoded HTML. No tight coupling anywhere.

  3. AI-Driven Development - You use Claude for requirements and specs. You use Cursor for code. You don't fight with AI - you work with it. Claude-driven specs + Cursor-driven code = the PAI3 engineering model.

  4. Data Layer Mastery - Data is your foundation, not an afterthought. You design data models before features. You understand ETL, storage, transformation, and how data moves between systems.

  5. Team Player - You think in outcomes, not just tasks. You work with analysts, domain experts, and leadership as one team. You never hide in a room with closed windows.

Requirements

Do you have experience in System deployment?, You Must Have:

  • 3-5 years of software engineering experience with production deployments

  • Demonstrated experience building modular, well-structured applications

  • Proficiency with Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript

  • Hands-on experience with data modeling, database design, and ETL workflows

  • Active daily use of AI coding tools - Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent

  • Experience with Claude, GPT-4, or other LLMs for code generation or specification writing

  • Ability to read and write technical specs before touching code

  • Currently located in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary, NC area - relocation assistance is not provided

  • Eligible to work in the United States

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in healthcare IT, health informatics, or clinical data systems

  • Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or healthcare data standards

  • Background in RAG pipelines, vector databases, or LLM fine-tuning

  • Experience with API design and microservices architecture

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization
