Job description

As a Senior AWS DevOps Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services. This role leads the implementation of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices, automates deployment pipelines, and ensures robust observability and operational excellence across all environments.

You will also be across:

  • Architect, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, VPC, RDS, and CloudFront.
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, Jenkins) for reliable and automated deployments.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Enhance system reliability through monitoring, logging, and alerting (CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK).
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance through IAM, KMS, security groups, and AWS best-practice frameworks.
  • Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement across infrastructure components.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide engineering teams on DevOps and cloud-native practices.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Virtual Private Clouds?, * Extensive hands-on AWS experience (5+ years preferred).

  • Strong expertise with Linux, networking, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tooling.
  • Proficient with scripting languages (Python, Bash).
  • Strong expereince with Terraform
  • Experience with cost optimization, performance tuning, and designing resilient architectures.
  • Ideally have worked in a consulting environment

This is an initial 6 month fixed term contract with the intention to be extended a further 6-12 months.

Must be able to work onsite in Wellington CBD 3-4 days per week.
