Job description

The Systems Administrator will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Perform Microsoft Azure Entra ID and Active Directory management activities;
  • Develop and maintain processes that optimize Microsoft server and Azure resources;
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain processes that optimize Amazon Web Services (AWS) services and resources;
  • Analyze Azure resource performance to identify resource contention and recommend changes or upgrades as needed to ensure optimization;
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, standards, procedures, and systems documentation;
  • Work with data center staff, OIT, and users to perform resource deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes;
  • Administer and configure Azure infrastructure security as needed for OIT staff and users;
  • Assist Azure application owners, administrators, and users with appropriate application access;
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve Windows server issues with minimal impact on users;
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve Linux server issues with minimal impact on users;
  • Write PowerShell scripts to be used to monitor server properties and perform Active Directory and Azure management activities;
  • Research and recommend appropriate technical solutions to meet functional requirements;
  • Provide recommendations for possible process improvements within the Department's infrastructure team;
  • Create schedules for the development and implementation of specific software systems; and
  • Perform additional Systems Administrator tasks as required by the Department.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or four (4) years of equivalent work experience is required.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.

The Department requires the following experience, skills, and knowledge for this position:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of Windows server administration experience with three (3) years administering Windows 2016 and newer.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Microsoft Azure and Cloud experience and two (2) years of AWS experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years administering Active Directory, Domain Name System (DNS), and Group Policy in environments with over 1,000 users.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Linux server management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, testing, and executing PowerShell scripts.
  • Proven track record installing, maintaining, and supporting third-party applications within virtual and cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications

The Department prefers the Candidate to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:

  • Proven experience managing projects with a large, distributed user base.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, track, and manage schedules across multiple projects.
  • Experience with state government projects.
  • Experience managing and reporting project metrics in strict compliance with Rule 60GG-1, F.A.C.
  • Experience working with technical programming teams.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional can-do attitude with the initiative to solve complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT standards in a criminal justice environment.
  • Knowledge in other IT areas such as programming, data analytics, etc.
  • Proven team player attitude with a high-energy level and diligent work ethic.
  • Ability to meet or exceed deadlines, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and organize and prioritize activities.
