Job description
General Description: The Configuration Manager will work with Engineers, Technicians, Document Control, Configuration Management, and other support staff to maintain a baseline configuration for documentation, review and convert documentation and process steps into properly formatted documents, maintain document templates, maintain storage systems for files, drawings, Inspection Test Records, Non-Conformance reports and Operating/Maintenance Procedures. The Configuration Manager will supervise the Document Control Specialists, Configuration Management Specialists, and report to the MARS Chief Engineer. Responsibilities and Duties:

Supports MARS operations by reviewing, maintaining, and verifying that policies and procedures are up to date and in-line with operational and administrative activities at MARS

Organizes MARS Document Control and Configuration Management archiving systems

Labels, sorts and categorizes documents for ease of use

Retrieves documents upon request

Adheres to regulatory requirements

Trains employees on efficient documentation usage

Ensures documentation integrity

Controls access to documents
-
Performs configuration management and configuration control of documents

Assists in the development of, and adherance to, configuration management workflows

Removes documents that are obsolete

Utilizes storage software and applications for electronic filing

Performs transcription and conversion work

Proofreads documents upon request

Assists with both internal and external audits

Manages Document Control and Configuration Management to ensure consistency of documentation practices across the company

Adheres to record retention guidance and performs record retention duties

Ensures proper configuration control by managing the state of documents, tracking change requests to documents, and following change control processes

Manages and provides guidance to Document Control Specialists and Configuration Management Specialists

Develops and maintains a schedule for Document Control Specialists and Configuration Management Specialists, in order to provide consistent field support for printing and scanning field documentation

Develops guidance documentation or Standard Operating Procedures for Document Control and Configuration Management to follow to adhere to company policies

Develops training programs for Document Control Specialists and Configuration Management Specialists and ensures team members are cross trained to reduce interruptions in field support

Updates and maintains templates in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Other duties as assigned, including any duties typically performed by a Document Control Specialist or Configuration Management Specialist as needed
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, College: Bachelor's Degree Major: Business or Administrative-related Job-Related Experience: In lieu of formal education, a minimum of ten (10) years of direct, practical work experience with Microsoft Office Programs, document development, review and data management. Certifications: N/A Licenses, etc.: Valid driver's license is necessary when operating a vehicle while on agency business. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of document control-related processes, configuration management processes, and regulations, AS9001 Quality Management Systems - Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defense Organizations, ISO 9001 - Quality Management Systems Skills:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Organization and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related programs
- SharePoint experience preferred

- Time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates high professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
Physical Demands: *Work is light requiring lifting of computer equipment and involves typical office behaviors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Position may travel between VCSFA sites. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting. Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for issuance of a NASA credential.
