Job description

E-logic is seeking a highly skilled GIS Geologist / Geospatial Specialist to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from the Department of the Interior . The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundational background in geology combined with advanced, practical expertise in GIS mapping, spatial analysis, and data synthesis. You will be responsible for transforming complex geological literature and maps into standardized, high-quality geospatial datasets and illustrations., * Georeference complex geologic maps and interpret aerial and satellite imagery for geological assessments.

  • Create, edit, and maintain shapefiles, attribute tables, and comprehensive databases extracted from scientific reports and literature.
  • Extract and evaluate detailed mineral deposit data, including grade, tonnage, and deposit types.
  • Produce high-quality, USGS-standard illustrations utilizing a combination of GIS software and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ensure all spatial data complies with federal standards by creating thorough FGDC-compliant metadata.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Satellite imagery analysis?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Must be a US Citizen or clearable for government background screening.

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, Geospatial Science, or a strictly equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of verified experience directly executing the following tasks:
  • Georeferencing geologic maps using ArcGIS.
  • Creating/editing shapefiles and managing attribute tables.
  • Extracting geologic and mineral resource data from historical maps and academic literature.
  • Building structured databases from complex scientific reports.
  • Interpreting aerial and satellite imagery specifically for geological applications.
  • Evaluating mineral deposit metrics (grade, tonnage, type).
  • Producing USGS-standard illustrations using GIS and Adobe software.
  • Authoring FGDC-compliant metadata.
  • Utilizing ArcGIS extensively for dedicated geologic and mineral studies.
