The ITS Wireless Radio Network section is seeking two Wireless Radio Supervisors (Lead User Technology Specialist). As a Wireless Radio Supervisor you will oversee the transport and backhaul infrastructure for the RWC Public Safety Network, a critical system serving 22 Phoenix-area agencies. This role manages a team of technical professionals, ensuring the reliability of microwave radio systems and fiber circuits. Additionally, this role requires hands-on experience in designing and maintaining microwave/Ethernet networking equipment, strong supervisory skills, and experience in vendor project coordination and procurement.
Please note: both positions require full-time, in-office/onsite attendance, as well as participation in a scheduled on-call rotation. Each supervisor will be responsible for overseeing a team comprised of four Radio Technicians and one Senior Radio Technician as direct reports
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in System maintenance?, * Extensive knowledge in microwave radio design and installation.
- Proficiency and comprehension of Ethernet network equipment.
- Proficiency in delivering clear verbal and written communication to diverse audiences, including sworn officers and professional staff.
- Working knowledge of FCC licensing regulations to support effective oversight of wireless radio network activities.
- Understanding of Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems (ERRCS) and code-compliance functions
- Proven leadership capabilities, including supervising technical support staff, delegating tasks, coordinating workloads, and fostering a high-performance team environment.
- Familiarity with portable and mobile two-way radios, including their operation, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues in microwave, transport/backhaul, and Ethernet network systems., * Four years of technical experience in electronics, radio frequency, or telecommunications engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, or telecommunications engineering.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. - Five years of experience in/with:
- Supervising and managing technical teams.
- Utilizing monitoring and management tools to ensure efficient and reliable system functionality.
- Designing, installing, and maintaining microwave radio systems supporting mission-critical public safety communication, and Ethernet networking equipment.
- Experience delivering expert-level technical support for subscriber radios within the RWC network.
- Experience collaborating with public safety agencies and interacting professionally with sworn personnel and inter-agency partners.
- Experience working effectively with vendor partners, overseeing project implementation, and supporting procurement and technical evaluation processes.
- Experience using SAP is desired.
