Job description

What does it take for a whole charity to trust the numbers it relies on? Effective finance systems, and the technical expert who keeps them that way. At Alzheimer's Society, that expert could be you. About the opportunity As Finance Systems Analyst, you'll be our in-house expert on the finance systems that keep the Society running. You'll sit in our Finance Systems and Data team, part of the Finance and Assurance directorate, and report to the Systems Accountant. You'll also line manage our Finance Systems Administrator. Finance and Assurance have a clear vision. We want to be the Society's single point of truth. We are trusted partners and credible experts, and we work as one team. You'll help make that real. You'll embed and improve Unit4 and the systems around it, so colleagues have the tools and insight they need. This is a hands-on, technical role with real influence. You'll give second-line support and solve the tricky problems. You'll turn what people need into clear system changes. And you'll be the steward of the change process, so every update is logged, tested and signed off. You'll build and look after the links between Unit4 and other systems. You'll also shape the reports and dashboards that turn raw data into insight., * Line managing the Finance Systems Administrator and standing in for the Systems Accountant when needed.

  • Being our subject expert on Unit4 ERPx, Unit4 FP&A and the wider finance system landscape.
  • Helping design efficient processes that meet the rules and keep data safe.
  • Turning user needs into clear specs and keeping change control tight. Every change is logged, tested and approved.
  • Solving complex system issues, on your own or with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Supporting audits with the facts and figures they need.
  • Helping deliver upgrades, patches and new features, and easing them into daily use.
  • Building and caring for the links between Unit4 and systems such as Proactis, Clarity and Avalara.
  • Improving our reports and dashboards with Unit4 FP&A, the Information Browser and Power BI.
  • Running learning sessions that grow confidence in the system.
  • Championing good use of the system and gently challenging off-system workarounds.
  • Building trust across Finance, Assurance and the wider Society.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Tableau?, You're a finance systems specialist who enjoys solving technical problems and improving how things work. You're comfortable in the detail, you work well across teams, and you're committed to helping others learn. You're always looking for a more efficient way to do things. You'll have:

  • Proven experience of Unit4 ERPx or another ERP finance system. Experience of Avalara and Proactis would be a bonus.
  • Experience of building reports with tools such as Unit4 FP&A, Power BI, Tableau or Excel.
  • A track record of building, fixing and caring for system links.
  • Good knowledge of core accounting, ideally in a large organisation, and a part-qualified CCAB award or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of managing change, from small tweaks to system upgrades and patches.
  • Sharp problem-solving skills, with a knack for the right fix.
  • Leading and coaching skills that help others learn, grow and do their best work.
  • The proven ability to work across teams and levels to get things done.
  • Demonstratable experience creating clear records and strong technical documents.
