Job description
The GIS Analyst is responsible for planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS data in accordance with the requirements of various projects as assigned by project managers providing service to public/private clients. Candidates must be knowledgeable with ESRI's software products. Duties include performing simple to complex data analyses to provide Clients with desired deliverables, and include database management, data migration, and mentoring other GIS personnel.
The GIS Analyst will play a key role in advancing digital data management initiatives, supporting development of data layers, data dictionaries, field collection guides for electronic data capture in the field, managing relational databases, producing client deliverables (i.e., report figures, data visualizations, and web applications), Major duties/responsibilities of the position require a working knowledge of and the ability to lead/carry out the following tasks:
- Produce GIS products and develop surveys using Survey 123 and/or FieldMaps.
- Leverage GIS data with Microsoft Power BI for data dashboard development.
- Provide quality control review and GIS updates for data collected in the field by others to ensure compliance with relevant data models.
- Convert pre-existing data to conformance with GIS data layers.
- Maintain and refine procedures for data collection, processing, and storage.
- Meet with clients and project team to define data needs, project requirements, or required outputs.
- Develop GIS projects consisting of vector, raster, and tabular data.
- Responsible for the development and production of reports, presentations, maps, and models for a variety of environmental, utility, and water resources projects.
- Perform quality control on database attributes.
- Operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, plotter, digitizer, color printer, and video camera.
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Proficient with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Map, and awareness of ESRI GIS applications.
- Provide geospatial technical support.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software, digital data collection, and data management.
- Complex database management skills preferred.
- Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in GIS or related programs such as cartography, geography, geomatics, surveying, or other programs focused on geospatial data, plus 5 years of experience are the minimum accepted criteria.
- Bachelor's degree in cartography, geography, geomatics, surveying, or GIS with a minimum of 3 years of experience is required. Additional bachelor's degrees may be considered provided there is a supporting minor in GIS or completion of a University GIS Certification Program.
- Previous GIS project experience with a focus on development of maps from a variety of data sources include GIS, aerial or satellite imagery, and other data sources is preferred.
Background Check: This position requires a CAC card, CUI Enclave Access and/or a Security Clearance, a background check will be completed.

Language & Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication is essential to this position. Must be fluent in the English language, reading, speaking, and writing. Report and writing for a range of projects may be required. Other Skills:
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous work with the Spatial Database Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) data model.
