A day in the life

This is a highly visible role that requires both business acumen when working with senior management, a strong technical background for understanding systems and database engineering practices, and technical depth for removing development roadblocks. You will interact with a broad cross section of the Amazon organization as you trace through complex interconnected systems to improve the overall operational stance of the organization and root out any issues uncovered along the way.

The Managed Operations (MO) Organization is looking for a highly motivated Systems Development and Operations Leader to drive the technical operational efficiency for AWS. The role will be responsible to manage team's that own operational problems, excellence, and support goals for AWS Regions. We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager with strong technical skills, problem solving abilities, deep customer affinity and communication skills, to lead our operations/engineering organization., 5+ years of managing system or software development teams experience

• 3+ years of systems engineering and operations leadership for an Internet service or leading edge IT organization experience

• 7+ years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative work in networking, storage systems, operating systems experience

• Experience in systems engineering and operations leadership for an Internet service or leading-edge IT organization

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience in a professional field or military

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of managing system or software development teams experience

• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

• Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)

• Experience with AWS platforms, services, and design patterns

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
