Job description
We are hiring software engineers with strong electronic design, simulation, or EDA backgrounds to build the next generation of Photonic IC design tools.
This role focuses on building circuit-level design, simulation, and verification software that enables photonic devices (lasers, modulators, waveguides, detectors) to be treated like electronic components inside EDA flows. You will not be doing optical lab work. You will be building the EDA software, models, and flows that photonic chip designers use every day., You will work at the intersection of electronics, photonics, and software engineering to:
- Design and implement EDA software for photonic IC simulation, verification, and layout
- Develop circuit-level models of photonic components that integrate with electronic simulation engines
- Build and maintain Process Design Kit (PDK) infrastructure for photonic foundries
- Enable co-simulation of electronic and photonic circuits
- Integrate EPDA modules into Keysight's broader EDA platform
- Work with R&D teams across Belgium and India to define architecture, APIs, and workflows
- Debug, validate, and optimize simulation accuracy and performance
Requirements
Do you have experience in Python?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Photonics or related
- Solid experience in C++ and/or Python
- Experience in circuit simulation, modeling, or EDA tools
- Understanding of SPICE-like simulators, RF simulation, or CAD tools
- Experience working with complex engineering software systems
- Comfortable working in distributed, multi-site R&D teams
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Ansys, Keysight, etc.)
- Knowledge of photonic components (waveguides, modulators, lasers, detectors)
- Experience with PDKs, design flows, or foundry data
- Background in RF, mixed-signal, or high-speed electronics
- Understanding of numerical simulation or physics-based modeling
