Job description
Our long-time client is a national distribution company with 100's of suppliers, 30+ locations, and 15,000k+ employees. They are recognized leaders in their space with a strong mission-driven culture and a long track record of growth. With a major surge in growth due to economic trending they are in the beginning stages of a digital transformation.
This is not a remote role, requires 3 days per week onsite, and unfortunately sponsorship is not offered.
The Opportunity:
This is a rare chance to build something from the ground up. Our client is creating its integration function for the first time and this is the hire that starts it all. You will own the strategy, the standards, the tooling, and the team. You will establish an Integration Center of Excellence and define how integration is done across the enterprise for years to come.
This is not a maintenance role, it is not an oversight role. It is a builder role with real technical depth required on day one and real leadership scope that grows with you.
What You Will Own:
-
Build and lead an Integration Center of Excellence from scratch.
-
Define the standards, governance framework, and best practices that will guide integration work across the organization.
-
Serve as the hands-on technical lead for integration development. You will build, not just direct.
-
Manage and govern third-party integration partners from day one.
-
Hire, develop, and grow a small in-house integration team as the function scales.
-
You will be the person who shapes that team's culture and capability.
-
Lead integration architecture and delivery in support of a major WMS rollout across several national locations.
-
Establish and enforce API management standards, data replication protocols, and security and compliance requirements across all integration touchpoints.
Requirements
-
Hands-on engineering experience with Boomi, MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, or a comparable platform. Boomi strongly preferred.
-
Real experience building and leading a team. You have hired people, developed them, and built a culture. This one is not negotiable.
-
EDI experience across common transaction sets and trading partner environments. Think X12, EDIFACT, AS2, and sets like 850, 856, and 810.
-
API development and management experience including REST and SOAP.
-
SFTP and file-based integration experience.
-
Experience building or formalizing an integration practice, CoE, or standards function.
-
A hands-on builder who leads by doing. Humble, curious, and comfortable splitting time roughly evenly between writing solutions and leading people.
