Job description
The Staff Systems Engineer will work with our team to support a wide range of IT systems and services, including the manufacturing virtualization environment. As the Staff Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing server applications. As a Staff Systems Engineer, you will work in a fast-paced environment and apply your technical knowledge to solve issues that will span multiple IT environments.
What You will Do
- Participate in projects and engineer new systems.
- Maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure for a 24/7 uptime service.
- Monitor performance of critical servers and applications and perform corrections as needed.
- Manage best practices on Linux systems and services across the manufacturing floor.
- Upgrade and maintenance of hardware/software in the IT infrastructure
- Engage and manage 3rd-party vendors to achieve expedient resolution
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hotfixes on Linux infrastructure.
- Create and maintain system documentation for specifications, designs, procedures, and logs.
- Document all processes, system changes/fixes, and issues.
- Collaborate with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of working experience as a Linux Administrator.
- Experience with designing and managing high-availability services
- Experience with system engineering on an enterprise-level, highly integrated, complex IT environment.
- Experience with Linux encryption, Samba, Bash (shell scripts), Perl, Python scripting, Linux patching + dependency resolution and performance improvements.
- Ability to evaluate security requirements and perform system hardening
- Enhance processes and procedures to perform automated daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups.
- Experience with Linux services, including but not limited to DHCP, TFTP, DNS, SSH
- Experience with CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat Linux.
- Linux certification a plus (RHCE, RHCT, LPIC, Linux+)
- Experience with creating Ansible Playbooks and/or running and troubleshooting Playbooks
- Experience managing, installing, and configuring complex virtual environments with High Availability in VMWare ESXi
- Experience supporting enterprise storage solutions including but not limited to, vSANs, LUNs, NetApp, QNAP, NAS, Pure Storage, EMC.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Support daily backup and recovery operations

The typical base salary for this position is expected to be between $124,500 and $182,500 per year. If hired, the final base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into consideration experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
