- Collaborating with stakeholders to make informed decisions, The City of Charlotte is seeking an experienced and solution-oriented Workday Architect to lead the design and architecture of Workday integrations and configurations that support citywide HR, Finance, Procurement, Budget, and operational processes. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and third-party partners to gather requirements, create architectural diagrams, and define implementation specifications. Additional responsibilities include providing support, guidance, and consultative advice to the city's Workday Administrators, Workday Security Administrators, and Workday Reporting Team to help optimize troubleshooting and solutioning efforts., * Collaborate with stakeholders across city departments to gather business requirements for Workday-related projects and enhancements.
- Design and document end-to-end Workday solutions, including integrations, business processes, security models, and reporting structures.
- Create clear technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, data flow diagrams, integration specifications, and configuration guides.
- Lead solution architecture for Workday integrations with internal systems and external vendors (using tools like Workday Studio, EIB, REST/SOAP APIs, Boomi, etc.).
- Support the development team by providing detailed functional and technical specifications for implementation.
- Support key Workday team resources in IT by providing regular consultative advice to help optimize and streamline troubleshooting and development solutioning in the areas of overall business process configuration, security, and reporting.
- Ensure that Workday configurations and integrations align with best practices, security policies, and long-term scalability.
- Participate in testing, validation, and troubleshooting of Workday solutions.
- Stay up to date on Workday feature releases and identify opportunities to enhance system capabilities.
Requirements
Do you have experience in XSLT?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, The ideal candidate brings deep Workday platform knowledge, strong communication and collaboration skills, and experience translating complex business needs into scalable technical solutions., * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Workday architecture, configuration, or integration.
- Proven experience designing Workday integrations and business processes.
- Strong knowledge of Workday modules (such as HCM, Payroll, Finance, Procurement, Adaptive Planning, etc.).
- Familiarity with Workday integration tools (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect).
- Experience working with REST/SOAP APIs, XML, and XSLT.
- Ability to create architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills., * Workday certification(s) in Integration, HCM, and/or Financials.
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with middleware platforms such as Boomi or BizTalk.
- Understanding of security protocols and data privacy best practices in cloud platforms.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The City's Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate's written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.
Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
