  • generate and analyze model requirements and specifications
  • design wind tunnel models or model components, as well as test and calibration assemblies (using Catia V5), in close coordination with relevant stakeholders both within and outside of the aerodynamics team
  • create documentation, including stress reports and drawings
  • work closely with wind tunnel model suppliers throughout all phases of model fabrication to ensure the manufacturability of all designed parts and to meet quality standards
  • oversee model acceptance at the supplier premises
  • prepare geometries for in-house 3D printing
  • fabricate models using in-house 3D printing technology
  • are hands-on in integrating, instrumenting, and calibrating wind tunnel models in the aero lab
  • contribute to test preparation
  • actively contribute to wind tunnel test execution at external wind tunnel facilities

Requirements

  • have practical training in the crafts sector and a Master's degree or a state-certified technical engineer qualification with long-term experience
  • have extensive experience in design, specifically including wind tunnel models and ideally experience in conducting wind tunnel tests
  • have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods commonly used for wind tunnel models, including metal milling, turning, erosion, and 3D printing
  • have extensive knowledge and experience with measurement technology typically used in wind tunnel test environments
  • possess basic knowledge of strength calculations and electrical engineering
  • have a hands-on attitude in the AeroLab and during wind tunnel tests, with experience in model handling
  • are willing to travel 3 times per year for 1-4 weeks, with destinations including Germany, the Netherlands, France, and the USA
  • have solid experience with MS Office and advanced knowledge of Catia V5
  • have a very good command of English, and strong knowledge of German
