Job description
Closely supervised, mid-level position. Successful candidate will participate in the immediate support of Campus Networking infrastructures and Telecom. Assist with network support and troubleshooting of main Campus Academic/Administrative networks as well as Residential Life networks for student residents. Will assist Telecom Coordinator as needed in the daily management of Phone system and related resources through-out Campus., * Utilize centralized Helpdesk tracking software for all levels of customer service engagement.

Triage Helpdesk calls for all network requests from across campus including phone issues.

Assist network administrator in the planning, expansion, and troubleshooting of ULM campus networks.

Assist telecomm coordinator in the daily support of phone system environment.

Works in a support/resolution role for technical issues when Students experience Internet access problems within Residential Life facilities. Includes WiFi and LAN-lines in residence rooms.

Coordinate with Residential Life when interaction is required with residents for network troubleshooting.

Work with other IT staff when needed for support resolution.

Required to work afterhours in the event of unexpected or planned outages.

Assist IT security officer in operational network support of surveillance cameras and door security controllers.

Engage with 3rd party cabling contractors for new cabling requests or repairs.

Other duties as required.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Windows Server administration?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Required to have a bachelor degree with a concentration in computer networks, one or more network certifications, and 1 year of internship in enterprise network systems. OR 5+ years of real-world field experience with enterprise grade networks and network systems.
- Working ethernet Layer 1-3 knowledge is required.
- Certification or knowledge of Juniper/JUNOS/Mist is preferred.
- Optical networking knowledge is useful.
- Experience in all desktop/server types (Windows/Linux)
- Certification or proven field knowledge in cabled networks including fiber optic standards, CAT5/6 and POE standards.
- Knowledge in phone systems infrastructure is useful.
