Job description
The Staff Software Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, development, and operational reliability of enterprise software systems supporting VASA Fitness digital products and operational platforms. This role provides technical leadership across complex initiatives, establishes engineering standards and best practices, and partners with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
The Staff Software Engineer contributes to technical strategy, system architecture, software delivery practices, and engineering process improvement while mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across the organization., * Lead the architecture, design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise software applications and distributed systems.
- Provide technical leadership across complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives and platform modernization efforts.
- Design and support scalable APIs, integrations, event-driven systems, and cloud-native applications.
- Establish and promote software engineering standards, architectural patterns, development practices, and operational procedures.
- Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions across engineering teams.
- Partner with engineering leadership, product teams, and business stakeholders to evaluate technical solutions, priorities, and implementation strategies.
- Support system reliability, observability, scalability, security, and operational performance across critical production systems.
- Contribute to cloud architecture, infrastructure strategy, CI/CD practices, and software delivery automation.
- Mentor and support software engineers through technical guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes, software quality, testing, automation, and operational excellence.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, development tools, and engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and automation technologies.
- Participate in operational support, incident response, root cause analysis, and technical troubleshooting activities as required.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Virtual Private Clouds?, * 12+ years of professional software engineering, with a real track record at staff, principal, or equivalent level. We care about scope of impact, not titles on a resume.
- Demonstrated shipping velocity. Tell us specifically what you have built and shipped in the last 12 months and what it does in production today.
- Deep work in at least two of TypeScript, Python, Go, or Rust, and credible fluency in the others. We choose the right tool per problem and expect Staff engineers to lead that choice. Strong AWS architecture

- Attendance is an essential duty of the position. Employees must work regularly scheduled shifts, during business hours to assist members and sell services in-person.
