Job description

The Industrial Network Specialist (INS) is an exempt-salaried position responsible for the strategic architecture, governance, cybersecurity alignment, and lifecycle management of ATSI's Industrial Information Systems (IIS) across all SCADA, industrial networking, virtualization, and operational technology (OT) environments.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations (VPO), the INS serves as the authority for industrial information infrastructure while supporting and collaborating with Industrial Automation Group (IAG) departments to ensure seamless integration across:

  • Engineering
  • Network Architecture
  • Field Deployment and ongoing contract support
  • Project Management
  • Cybersecurity Compliance

The INS role ensures that all industrial information systems are designed, deployed, secured, and maintained in alignment with ATSI's Mission, Vision, Core Values, operational performance standards, and project specifications. The role combines technical governance with hands-on leadership during critical architecture, commissioning, and cybersecurity implementation events.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with client IT departments and their enterprise networks.
  • Define industrial network architecture standards and govern control network devices.
  • Establish and enforce OT cybersecurity frameworks aligned with current NIST, ISA, and IEC standards and client-specific compliance requirements.
  • Approve network segmentation, firewall zoning, VPN configurations, MFA implementation, and secure remote access methods.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of:
    • Virtual servers and redundancy architectures
    • SCADA primary and backup environments
    • Industrial switching and routing configurations
    • Support proposal development by providing technical infrastructure narratives, risk assessments, and eƯort estimates.
    • Support Project Management in evaluating scope changes, infrastructure risks, and cybersecurity impacts.
  • Provide escalation support during:
    • FAT / SAT events
    • Server migrations
    • Network cutovers
    • Commissioning activities
  • Standardize backup, disaster recovery, patch management, and change management procedures.
  • Lead INS-related training and knowledge-sharing initiatives across IAG departments.
  • Mentor engineers and field personnel on infrastructure best practices.
  • Maintain documentation standards, including:
    • Network diagrams
    • Server architecture drawings
    • Cybersecurity boundary definitions
    • Version control repositories
  • Track performance metrics related to system uptime, cybersecurity compliance, and project infrastructure success rates.
  • Execute additional technical duties as required., Water / Wastewater - This role supports automation solutions in water treatment, distribution, and wastewater facilities. Familiarity with municipal infrastructure, SCADA telemetry systems with regulatory reporting. Candidates should understand EPA compliance standards and be comfortable working with city agencies, utility operators, and contractors.

Food & Beverage - This role supports automation systems in food and beverage processing plants, with emphasis on sanitary design, CIP/SIP operations, batch processing, traceability, and integration with MES/ERP systems. Knowledge of FDA, USDA, and FSMA regulations is highly desirable, along with experience maintaining production continuity and system validation practices.

Authority & Organizational Position

  • Reports directly to the Vice President of Operations (VPO).
  • Operates as the technical authority for Enterprise and Industrial Information Systems.
  • Collaborate with and support all IAG departments.
  • Provides governance, cybersecurity, and infrastructure control across IAG projects.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in VLAN?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

  • 5-10 years of experience in:
    • DOD / SCADA systems architecture
    • Industrial networking
    • Virtualization platforms
    • OT cybersecurity
    • Enterprise and industrial network deployment
  • Advanced knowledge of: Managed switches, firewalls, VLANs, and routing. Virtual server environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox). Backup, recovery, and redundancy systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial cybersecurity principles and risk mitigation.
  • Proven ability to execute infrastructure deployments in municipal, federal, or industrial environments.

Compliance

  • Ability to pass DoD background checks and drug screening.
  • Valid California driver's license with a clean driving and criminal record.
  • Willingness to travel and support high-priority commissioning events as required.

Preferred Certifications

The following certifications are preferred but not required:

  • CISSP, Security+, or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • VMware, Microsoft Server, or equivalent infrastructure certifications.
  • ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Certificate.
  • OSHA 30 and/or EM 385-1 safety certificate.
