Job description

  • Manages the set-up and tear-down of fixed and mobile range targets and various arrays for supporting the daily execution of the scheduled flight test missions.

  • Interprets program blueprints and drawings to fabricate and install range targets. Positions fixed or mobile targets at various range sites to support test requirements.

  • Performs mobile target duties by driving range vehicles for radar imaging, photograph imaging or as a laser target.

  • Supports the test requirements submitted by the Range user and determines, from both a technical and operational viewpoint, the type of support required, the usage of existing facilities, and the specific route to accomplish the mission.

  • The Technical Support Specialist assists the Range user and the users Consultants or Sub-Contractors with logistical, communications, transportation coordination with other Range functions and test execution as required for successful flight test results.

  • A good working knowledge in the areas concerning the operations and maintenance of fixed and mobile telemetry systems, Data Acquisition and Transmission Systems; Radar, Radar Moving Target Simulators, Radar Fidelity and Geometric Range; Precision Impact Range Area, Gunnery ranges, Mobile Target System, Simulated Combat Airfield and Tactical Target Range, fixed and mobile Photo Resolution and infra-red targets; Radiometric Analysis and Measurement System; video and infra-red sensors. Interfaces with the Range, Engineering Flight, and customer Flight Test Engineers to ensure that all operational requirements are considered during new system acquisition and turnovers.

  • Oversees equipment custodian accounts for; assets which support the Precision Impact Range Area (PIRA). Manages the assignment, tracking and maintenance of Land Mobile Radios (LMR), Personnel and Equipment Tracking System (PETS), cell phones, target inventory and heavy equipment. Additionally, serves as on-site facility representative for several buildings, Civil Engineering (CE) work orders, and Vehicle Control Officer (VCO) duties.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Wireless communication system operation?, 1 year experience of heavy equipment skills desired.

1 year of trade work desired.

Valid Class A drivers license., * U.S. Citizenship

  • Obtain & maintain Security clearance
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • Knowledge of test range systems and related equipment used to support the Range mission and schedule. Knowledge of capabilities of radar, telemetry, communications, microwave systems, photo optics, timing, and other assets related to the Range Squadron.
  • Knowledge of test operations and specifically how to support Test Concept Meetings where test objectives are outlined. Should be able to articulate the capabilities of the range to meet specific test objectives where the Precision Impact Range Area is considered.
  • Highly skilled in utilizing computers, and all Microsoft Office computer programs.
