Job description

This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and reliability of enterprise systems, network servers, and virtual environments. Responsibilities include installing and upgrading software and hardware, managing virtual servers, and supporting automation efforts. The role involves performing routine system audits (including backups), monitoring system performance, and health, and proactively troubleshooting hardware and software issues by diagnosing problems, documenting resolutions, and escalating to vendors when needed. The individual will handle user and group administration, permissions, and Active Directory management, while also implementing and maintaining Windows-based security controls. Additional responsibilities include supporting incident response and ticket resolution, coordinating with stakeholders to analyze and implement solutions, maintaining documentation for 24/7 operations, and mentoring junior team members. The position requires collaboration with customers and internal teams across multiple locations to ensure system stability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience working as a Linux System Admin
  • Security+ or other DoD 8570.11 IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security+, CE, CCNA Security, GSEC, SSCP).
  • Strong technical foundation across systems, networking, hardware/software, TCP/IP protocols, and virtualization technologies (VMware or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting multi-OS environments (Linux, Windows, macOS) with hands-on Tier 2 systems administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
  • Deep knowledge of security, storage, data protection, disaster recovery, and operating system hardening across networks, databases, and applications.
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation, performance monitoring, Active Directory, HTTP, backup/recovery processes, and server patch management methodologies.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage support through ticketing systems.
