CPU Defender LLC is hiring a full-time On-Site IT Support Technician to support day-to-day technology operations at a client facility in Romeoville, IL.
This role is a good fit for someone with help desk or desktop support experience who wants steady on-site work, real hands-on variety, and the opportunity to grow beyond basic Level 1 support. You will be the first point of contact for everyday IT issues, supporting office users, warehouse users, workstations, printers, peripherals, conference room equipment, and basic account/software needs.
You will work directly under the owner of CPU Defender and receive hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to real business IT operations. The goal is to hire someone who can confidently handle Level 1 support today and grow into stronger Level 2 responsibilities over time.
What You'll Do
- Respond to help desk tickets, troubleshoot issues, document work performed, and follow issues through resolution.
- Support end users in person and remotely with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, basic software issues, printers, scanners, peripherals, and common workstation problems.
- Provide hands-on support throughout the facility, including office areas and warehouse floor environments.
- Assist with new computer setups, user onboarding, equipment moves, hardware swaps, and basic device configuration.
- Help maintain IT documentation, asset records, ticket notes, and basic how-to guides.
- Escalate more complex issues with clear notes, screenshots, troubleshooting steps, and business impact.
- Support basic account and access requests under supervision.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, patching coordination, inventory cleanup, and equipment organization.
- Communicate clearly and patiently with non-technical users.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Technical support via phone?, * 1 to 2 years of help desk, desktop support, or similar IT support experience.
- Solid Windows 10/11 troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and common business applications.
- Experience working with a ticketing system or documenting support requests.
- Comfortable supporting users face-to-face, over the phone, and remotely.
- Able to troubleshoot printers, peripherals, monitors, docking stations, and basic network connectivity issues.
- Strong communication skills with non-technical users.
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently after training.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs and be on your feet for hands-on work when needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Nice to Have
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certification.
- Exposure to Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, or basic user/account administration.
- Basic networking knowledge such as IP addresses, Wi-Fi, switches, cabling, and VLAN concepts.
- Experience with RMM tools, endpoint security tools, or remote support tools.
- Experience supporting warehouse devices, barcode scanners, label printers, or shared workstations.
- Interest in growing into Level 2 support, systems administration, networking, or cybersecurity.

Work Environment
This is an on-site role based at a business facility in Romeoville, IL. The work includes normal office support as well as hands-on support in warehouse and operations areas. The role requires someone who is comfortable moving around the facility, talking directly with users, and switching between ticket work, hands-on troubleshooting, and documentation.
