Job description
We are looking for a Product Owner for our online core team. This team manages and develops the online channels that support our external communications, with the corporate website wur.nl as the primary platform. The website runs on Drupal.
In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues from across the entire organization, including marketing, communications, data, and security. This will give you a good overview of the various areas of work within WUR as well as the target groups we serve.
This is what you will do
You set the online course You translate WUR's online ambitions into a clear product vision, roadmap, and priorities. Together with the core team and the channel owners, you ensure that online channels, platforms, and digital customer journeys align well.
You manage the backlog You gather requests from the organization and translate them into epics, features, and user stories. Based on data, user insights, and organizational goals, you determine the priorities. You guide improvements and new functionalities from development to release.
You connect and prioritize You bring various interests together and make clear choices. Additionally, you advise colleagues on online developments and digital possibilities. You ensure clear communication regarding priorities, progress, and changes.
You maintain control You manage suppliers and technical partners and monitor the coherence between the CMS, online tools, and digital standards. In doing so, you keep an eye on accessibility, privacy, security, and developments such as AI.
You continuously improve You analyze user behavior, feedback, and platform performance in collaboration with the team. Based on this, you initiate improvements in usability, content structure, performance, and online service delivery. You promote an agile way of working, in which development and improvement are continuous.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Usability?, Do you have a Master's degree?, You are an experienced and proactive professional with a strong affinity for online services. You move easily between technology, design, and user needs, and know how to translate complex issues into clear, workable solutions. You are a strong communicator, think in possibilities, and feel at home in a dynamic, data-driven environment.
- Bachelor's or Master's working and thinking level and at least 5 years of relevant work experience in an online environment.
- Solid knowledge of technology and design (front- and back-end website), administration, content management systems (including Drupal), ticketing systems (JIRA), and analysis tools (e.g., GA4).
- Follows trends and new developments to further develop and implement them together with our strategic partner.
- Familiar with the (implementation of) Web Accessibility Guidelines.
- Experience with stakeholder management in a complex, data-driven organization.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to make technology understandable to end users.
Additionally, you recognize yourself in the following: You are a proactive professional who easily switches between users, stakeholders, and technology. You take initiative, know how to distinguish between main and secondary issues, and make choices based on data and facts. Thanks to your organizational sensitivity, you bring different interests together and create support for changes. You communicate clearly and can make technical issues understandable to diverse target groups. At the same time, you remain curious about new developments and translate opportunities into concrete improvements.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 4,045 and € 6,228 for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11). This role is based on 32 hours per week.
When it comes to your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract with the intention of converting it to an indefinite contract.
