Job description
A Note from the Director, Own and deliver the software roadmap, from idea through to deployment and support

Design and build full-stack solutions, remaining hands-on in development

Establish and manage a robust CI/CD pipeline and development lifecycle
-
Implement testing standards and ensure high-quality, maintainable code
-
Lead and support a small internal team (including NetSuite and IT support roles)
-
Oversee core IT operations to ensure continuity of existing systems
-
Work closely with non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into practical solutions
-
Introduce and manage AI-assisted development approaches where appropriate
-
Ensure appropriate governance, documentation and change control - particularly in a regulated environment
-
Manage external suppliers and technology partners where required
Leadership & management

Build a high performing team with shared ownership for results and clear accountabilities for each team member, encouraging high performance and addressing any performance issues

Manage short- and longer-term team resource plans to ensure effective allocation against department goals
-
Offer praise for high performance freely, build positive relationships with team members, peers and directors

Input into, create and implement company and department action plans that seek to improve employee engagement and retention

Effectively manage your department budget, ensuring you meet agreed budgeted amounts, seek authorisation when required and gain value for spend

Where needed and with the relevant director support, manage formal employee processes: disciplinary / grievance / absence / recruitment / annual leave approval / employee review, o Polyglot - Python plus a typed language (TypeScript or Go); language flexibility matters more than any specific combination
o ERP or NetSuite integration experience - useful given how central NetSuite is to the delivery work, but learnable with solid API experience elsewhere
o M365 administration -2 other IT Engineers cover the day-to-day, but familiarity helps with supplier management and system oversight
o Observability and security posture experience - the instinct matters more than the specific tooling
o Vendor and supplier management - liaising with third-party consultants and software providers is part of the role
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in TypeScript?, Experience in software engineering with clear ownership of delivered systems

Strong full-stack capability, with confidence making architectural decisions across front and back end

Hands-on experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines end-to-end
-
Experience leading delivery (not just contributing) through to completion with appropriate documentation

Experience working with or evaluating AI development tools
It is desirable that the postholder has:

Experience across multiple languages (for example Python, TypeScript, Go)

Exposure to ERP systems or NetSuite integrations
-
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and broader IT system oversight
-
Experience in observability, security and system resilience

Supplier or vendor management experience

Strong communication (oral and written) and numeracy skills

Effective and confident telephone skills, with an excellent level of English

Full driving licence, The ideal candidate is someone with some genuine leadership or ownership experience behind them- not necessarily line management, but clear accountability for something that shipped.
Can explain a technical decision to a non-technical audience without making it sound harder than it is and still write code that they'd be comfortable putting their name on.

o Full stack - comfortable making architectural decisions across front and backend
o Testing-first instincts - has lived in a codebase without adequate coverage and won't repeat it
o Has owned a CI/CD pipeline end-to-end, not just used one
o Can communicate a technical decision clearly to a non-technical audience
o Building with AI tooling and has thought critically about where it helps and where it quietly causes problems
o Comfortable managing a small team with mixed profiles - a specialist and a generalist
o Project ownership experience - has driven a system delivery (not just contributed to one) through to completion with appropriate documentation
o Change control discipline - understands why it exists, especially in a regulated environment, and can implement it without it becoming a bureaucratic bloat
