Job description

We have an opportunity for you as an experienced and technically strong Corporate Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of the Council's enterprise data architecture. This is a critical role that will shape how data is structured, integrated and governed across the organisation, enabling consistent, high-quality data to support strategic decisionmaking and service delivery.

Working closely with senior stakeholders and technical teams, you will define and maintain a scalable data architecture, establishing clear standards for data modelling, integration and governance. You will lead the development of the Corporate Data Governance Framework and design approaches to managing data across complex environments, including structured and unstructured data, legacy systems and modern platforms. This will include defining patterns for data warehousing, lakehouse architectures and APIled integration.

You will have significant experience in enterprise data architecture, with a strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management and regulatory requirements such as UK GDPR. Comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels, you will be able to translate business requirements into clear architectural designs, while providing assurance that solutions are secure, compliant and fit for purpose. Experience working across complex, multisystem environments and influencing at senior level will be essential.

This is a unique opportunity to take a lead role in modernising the Council's data landscape, establishing the foundations for advanced analytics, improved reporting and future innovation, including the use of emerging technologies.
