Job description

  • Write Python-based AWS Lambda functions that extract data from Fullbay's API, stage it in S3, and load it into a SQL Server database
  • Use AWS S3 for intermediate data storage, event triggers, and passing payloads between Lambda functions and other services
  • Build and maintain Google Apps Script automations that connect Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Chat) to operational data - alerts, lookups, reports, and triggered workflows
  • Design and query SQL Server views and stored procedures to surface workflow anomalies, technician performance patterns, and exception conditions
  • Build lightweight notification and alerting systems (Google Chat webhooks, email triggers, SMS) fired by data conditions in the pipeline
  • Integrate with HubSpot CRM via API for syncing customer and workflow data across systems

AI-Assisted Development (Claude / Anthropic)

  • Work within an AI-augmented development workflow - the owner uses Claude extensively and expects you to as well
  • Help design prompts and data structures for Claude-powered tools that interpret operational data
  • Assist in building and extending MCP (Model Context Protocol) server connectors that give Claude direct access to Iron Buffalo's database and business systems
  • Contribute to a growing internal toolset that uses AI to analyze data from multiple systems simultaneously and generate actionable reports

Project Examples (Actual Work We've Built)

  • Automated cross-referencing of Fullbay work orders with Google Calendar appointments to flag scheduling discrepancies
  • Staff workflow monitoring: comparing Fullbay activity timestamps against Google Chat messages and email to identify performance outliers
  • HubSpot pipeline sync: pulling customer vehicle and service history from Fullbay and surfacing it in HubSpot contact records
  • Notification systems that alert management via Google Chat when specific operational conditions are met (idle WOs, missed milestones, etc.)

Requirements

Do you have experience in Stored procedures?, * Solid Python proficiency - this is the primary language for Lambda functions and data pipeline work

  • Google Apps Script experience - you've connected Workspace tools to external data or built triggered automations
  • Comfort working with REST APIs - reading docs, writing calls, handling auth (OAuth, API keys), parsing responses
  • SQL fluency - writing queries, joins, stored procedures; SQL Server experience a strong plus
  • AWS experience: Lambda is the core, S3 familiarity expected; other AWS services a bonus
  • Autonomous, self-directed work style - you can take a loosely defined problem and figure it out
  • Strong written communication; you're working with an owner who thinks technically and moves fast

Preferred

  • Experience with AI/LLM integrations - Claude, OpenAI, or similar; prompt engineering a plus
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or willingness to learn the architecture
  • HubSpot API experience
  • Background in operations software integrations (Fullbay, ServiceMax, Mitchell 1, or similar shop management tools)
  • Based near Commerce City / Denver metro - the ability to occasionally visit the shop adds real context
  • You've worked in or around small businesses before and understand that practical > perfect

Benefits & conditions

Pulled from the full job description

  • Flexible schedule, * The owner is a former software engineer - no translating, no fighting for technical decisions, no explaining what an API is
  • Projects are small, scoped, and fast - most ship in days or weeks, not months
  • Real AI-first workflow - Claude is not a buzzword here; it's an active part of the development environment
  • You'll have direct line of sight to business impact: when your code runs, real operational problems get caught and fixed
  • Flexible hours - work when you work best, just deliver
  • Opportunity to grow with the engagement as Iron Buffalo expands to a third location

Pay: $30.00 - $60.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
