Job description

Responsible for performing activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases including designing, configuring, and managing databases to ensure the integrity, security and accessibility of the organization's data., * Perform database server installations, upgrades and patching, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration.

  • Define standards for physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration.
  • Perform backup and recovery using native and third-party backup tools.
  • Configure server and database settings for optimal database functionality.
  • Create, maintain, and troubleshoot automated database jobs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity and performance issues.
  • Monitor server and database metrics and respond to/resolve alerts.
  • Administer and maintain database access.
  • Create and maintain database and server documentation.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Not responsible for supervising employees., * Demonstrate use of computer operations (programming, relational databases, and operating systems) and software packages.
  • Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Job Specific Impact - Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area.
  • Results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines for how to complete work activities; works closely with supervisor/manager who provides broad guidance and overall direction.
  • Foundational - Prioritize assigned and routine tasks. Handle appropriately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience., * Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
