TecHQ Services is a tech support network built for real people, families, home users, freelancers, and small businesses that need help without the hassle of traditional IT support.
We help customers solve everyday technology issues through remote support, phone, video, and select onsite service in the Houston metro area. No contracts. No monthly fees. No long hold times. Customers request help when they need it, and our Techies help them get back on track.
Our mission is simple: make tech help easier, friendlier, and more accessible.
About the Role
We are currently accepting applications from qualified Techies in the Houston Metro Area, including Pearland, Houston, Katy and surrounding communities.
As a TecHQ Techie, you will choose support tickets that match your skills and availability. Most work can be handled remotely through screen share, phone, or video. Approved Techies may also accept onsite support opportunities at customer homes or small business locations as the business grows.
TecHQ provides the platform, customer requests, scheduling tools, billing, and payment collection. You bring the technical skill, professionalism, and customer care.
What You'll Do
- Respond to customer support requests covering common home and small business technology issues.
- Diagnose and resolve problems through remote support, phone, video, or approved onsite visits.
- Explain solutions clearly and patiently so customers feel comfortable and in control.
- Confirm that the issue is something you can reasonably support before work begins.
- Document each ticket clearly and close it out professionally.
- Support common technology needs such as:
- Computer troubleshooting
- Slow performance, crashes, startup issues, software problems
- Internet and WiFi help
- Home network setup, router issues, connection problems
- Printer and device setup
- Printers, TVs, phones, tablets, monitors, and accessoriesMicrosoft 365, Google Workspace, Gmail, Outlook, Zoom, Teams, Google MeetSuspicious emails, possible malware, account safety, password guidanceAlexa, Google Assistant, ChatGPT setup, smart devices, general tech questions
Requirements
Do you have experience in Zoom?, * You enjoy helping people and can explain technical issues in plain language.
- You are patient, professional, and comfortable working with customers who may not be technical.
- You have strong troubleshooting skills across common home and small business technology.
- You have reliable internet, a working computer, and a quiet place to take calls.
- You communicate clearly in writing and by phone or video.
- You take customer trust, privacy, and professionalism seriously.
Preferred Background
- IT support or help desk experience
- Computer repair or field technician experience
- Home network or WiFi troubleshooting
- Smart home setup
- AV or TV setup
- Phone, tablet, or device support
- Independent tech consulting for families, neighbors, or small businesses
Certifications are welcome but not required. What matters most is your ability to solve problems and treat customers well., * Must be 18 or older
- Must be authorized to work as an independent contractor in the United States
- Must be located in or near the Houston Metro Area for onsite opportunities
- Must have reliable internet and your own basic support equipment
- Must be willing to follow TecHQ customer service, privacy, safety, and documentation standards
- Background screening may be required before onsite work is approved
