Job description

On behalf of our client, a leading international player in the private banking sector based in Geneva, we are looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Senior Oracle DBA) on a permanent full-time contract. You will join a dynamic and growing IT team and participate in the management, securing, and optimisation of critical database environments within a rich and modern technological infrastructure. In an international context, you will work closely with application teams, infrastructure specialists, and business units to ensure system availability, performance, and security. This position also offers the opportunity to work with advanced technologies and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage Oracle databases: installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Monitor performance, availability, and security of database environments.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure teams, and business users to optimise database performance and architecture.
  • Define and implement backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related incidents while minimising service interruptions.
  • Implement security best practices, including access control, data encryption, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of technical environments and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation and share knowledge within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, ideally in the banking or financial sector.
  • Excellent command of Oracle Database 19c.
  • Expertise in Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, Partitioning, Compression, Optimisation, TDE, and TCPS.
  • Experience with Oracle Database Appliance (ODA): installation, patching, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Enterprise Manager for database monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Exadata and Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA).
  • Strong skills in SQL, PL/SQL, Unix scripting, and Linux, Solaris, and Windows environments.
  • Experience in data modelling.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Oracle Key Vault, Oracle Advanced Security, and CyberArk is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server administration is appreciated.
  • Residence in Switzerland is mandatory.
  • Fluency in English is required; Spanish or French is a major asset.
  • Excellent organisational, documentation, and knowledge-sharing skills.
  • Curiosity, innovative spirit, and willingness to step out of comfort zone to tackle new technological challenges.
