UI/UX Engineer

The Leidos Intelligence Group has an opening for UI/UX Engineer in Reston, Virginia. The successful candidate will work as a member of a government contractor team managing to design intuitive, user-centric interfaces and AI-driven applications for both unclassified and classified federal environments. You will bridge design and front-end development, translating complex mission data into accessible, secure UI solutions while adhering to government regulatory and security protocols. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in user experience design, front-end development, and usability principles, with the ability to translate complex technical workflows into clean, efficient, and accessible interfaces. This individual will work closely with backend engineers, product owners, and end users to improve usability, performance, and overall user satisfaction. Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment inside a government facility.

• Typically requires BS degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. Experience may be exchanged for degree requirements.\n
• Ability to conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing to deeply understand the needs of defense and intelligence personnel.\n
• Ability to translate user needs to create functionally designed interfaces that streamline complex data visualization and integrate seamlessly with AI-driven capabilities.\n
• Ability to lead end-to-end design initiatives, including wireframing, storyboarding, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes.\n
• Strong experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)\n
• Experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)\n
• Demonstrated experience designing user-centered interfaces for complex applications\n
• Understanding of UX principles, usability, and interaction design\n
• Design intuitive interactions for AI/ML features, such as predictive inputs, machine-generated alerts, and dynamic analytics dashboards.\n
• Collaborate heavily with back-end, data science, and AI/ML teams to ensure technical feasibility and smooth integration.\n
• Work fluidly across multiple security domains (NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS or equivalent classified networks).\n, * Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)\n
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Grafana or similar)\n
• Familiarity with REST APIs and backend integration\n
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and front-end deployment workflows\n
• Experience working in Agile environments\n
• Experience designing and developing intuitive user interfaces for data-driven GEOINT applications.\n

• Creating, prototyping, and coding seamless user interfaces for mission-critical government systems that leverage AI/ML technologies. Working seamlessly across unclassified and classified (TS/SCI) systems\n
• Ensure high-security software remains intuitive, efficient, and accessible for federal stakeholders and analysts.\n
• UI/UX Design & Implementation: Design and develop intuitive, responsive user interfaces for web-based applications\n
• User Experience Optimization: Translate complex workflows into simple, efficient user experiences that improve usability and adoption\n
• Front-End Development: Build and maintain front-end components using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or similar)\n
• Usability & Accessibility: Ensure applications meet usability standards and accessibility best practices\n
• Design Systems: Contribute to and maintain consistent design patterns, components, and style guides\n
• User Research & Feedback: Gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve interface design and functionality\n
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with backend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to align UI/UX with system capabilities\n
