Develop and maintain applications for data management, visualization, and research collaboration.

Work closely with researchers to understand their software requirements and provide technical solutions.

Participate in the design, testing, and deployment of new software features.

Assist in the integration of computational tools and databases.

Document and maintain software functionality.

Ensure the robustness and reliability of web applications.

Perform data collection and data analysis to investigate the performance of large-scale RFID deployments.

Responsible for creating reports for data presentation and customer communication.

Responsible for evaluating the performance of RFID systems in retail stores and standard lab test environments.

Responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting RF test equipment.
Requirements
Auburn University Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Lab is seeking a motivated and skilled Student Software Developer. This position is ideal for undergraduate students who are passionate and proficient in software development and are looking to apply their skills in a dynamic research environment. The role involves developing and maintaining web-based applications that support our lab's research activities, utilizing technology to streamline and optimize processes, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency for the teams throughout the RFID Lab., + Enrolled student at Auburn University

Strong programming skills with experience in application development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#).

Experience working with web applications, and or frameworks (NextJS, Remix, Vite/React) - Experience with Kubernetes

Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL)

Currently enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student.

Majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Must have reliable transportation.

Must have 20 hour per week availablity for summer 2026 and 15 - 20 hour per week availability for fall 2026
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with non-technical team members.

Knowledge of data visualization tools and libraries is a plus.

Technically capable with the ability to quickly become familiar with hardware, software, processes and new technologies is a plus.

Basic Knowledge of RF systems and computer networks is a plus.
