Job description
Apex Systems is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division on the Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) network.
This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management-including design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization-of enterprise virtualization, storage, and backup environments. The position provides Operations & Maintenance (O&M) support for mission-critical corporate IT solutions., * Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions, with a focus on VMware vSphere and NetApp/VAST storage platforms
- Manage and optimize the Rubrik backup and disaster recovery environment
- Provide O&M support for RDT&E network infrastructure and corporate services
- Support IT transition initiatives and ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and system design specifications
- Ensure compliance with Assessment & Authorization (A&A) security requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in collaboration with Help Desk and internal stakeholders
- Produce system specifications, design documentation, test and evaluation plans, and technical reports
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering
- Strong understanding of SAN fundamentals, including:
- Virtual machine provisioning
- LUN provisioning
- Snapshots and zoning
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Knowledge of DoD security and accreditation standards, including STIGs and SCAP
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Splunk for logging and monitoring
- Scripting or automation experience
Security Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, twist, and squat as needed
