In this senior technical role, you will be at the forefront of architecture and implementation, producing comprehensive High-Level and Low-Level Design documentation, providing technical leadership, and ensuring our virtualization environments meet the highest standards of security, resilience, and operational excellence. Your expertise will enable successful platform deployment, migration, and ongoing support within a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

We're looking for a talented Oracle Systems Engineer to take ownership of designing, building, and optimizing sophisticated virtualisation platforms based on Oracle Linux KVM and OLVM. If you thrive in complex, regulated environments and possess a passion for delivering resilient, secure, and scalable solutions, this is the opportunity for you., * Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Linux KVM and OLVM in enterprise settings

  • Proven ability to produce HLD and LLD documentation for virtualization solutions
  • Strong understanding of hypervisor architecture, including qemu-kvm, libvirt, VDSM, and VM lifecycle management
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing Oracle Linux KVM hosts, clusters, and virtual machine estates at scale
  • Knowledge of storage and networking (NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, VLANs, bonding)
  • Automation scripting skills in Bash, Python, Ansible, or REST API
  • Expert in security hardening, patching, performance tuning, backup, and disaster recovery
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with self-hosted engine deployments and oVirt management tooling
  • Familiarity with Oracle database, middleware, or application hosting on Oracle Linux KVM
  • Background in migrations from other hypervisors or legacy virtualization platforms
  • Experience within regulated, secure, or operationally sensitive environments

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
  • At least 5 years of hands-on virtualization engineering experience in complex enterprise environments
  • Certifications related to Oracle Linux, virtualization, or security are advantageous

Other Requirements:

  • Location: Farnborough, with flexibility to work from home based on business needs
  • Duration: 12 months with potential for extension
  • Ability to operate confidently across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and deliver high-quality outputs
