Job description

As a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies, products and services, Qualcomm ideas and inventions have driven the evolution of digital communications. Qualcomm Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, has the following position available in Bridgewater, NJ:

This individual leads, plans, and synthesizes ambiguous or conflicting requirements to perform the complex responsibility of designing, implementing, verifying, validating, and commercializing Wireless WAN (cellular) modem air interface RAN technologies. Involved in RF software design including optimizations and algorithms, and collaborates with cross-functional teams such as access stratum, systems, hardware, and RFFE to define and guide modem IP architecture, RFFE design, HW APIs, core system algorithms, and HW/SW/coprocessor architecture. Works on NR5G across 3GPP releases for feature definition and software design and implementation. Closely involved with transceiver, HW control, and wireless Radio Access Stratum software implementation for multi-RAT modems based on industry specifications. Applies knowledge of WWAN 3GPP specifications to efficiently implement shared resources of multi-RAT modems. Partners with other functional groups to develop cost-effective, high-quality modem IP that meets industry and customer requirements for performance (throughput, latency, power) and cost (silicon area, calibration complexity, code size). Independently plans and executes modem assignments, applying expertise in RF, baseband, signal processing, computer architecture, and communication protocols; owns feature design and implementation. Reviews software models, code, and simulations; identifies issues and tradeoffs against loosely defined requirements and proposes solutions. Develops test environments and plans to verify designs; evaluates results and validates modem against specifications. Provides technical expertise to resolve issues in access stratum/RF software during implementation and commercialization; supports cross-functional teams in modem bring-up and customer issue resolution. Works closely with test teams to commercialize features; writes technical documentation and feature descriptions; collaborates with customer engineering to provide API and algorithm guidance. Acts as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings and communicates and implements a development plan.
